Olympic qualifiers

Kenya Taekwondo Federation has registered victory in the Olympic qualifiers in the middle/heavy weight category

The 12th all African Games silver medalist and Dubai G2 bronze medalist Faith Ogallo has earned Kenya a slot by defeating her opponent 27 - 21. Ogallo officially qualifies for the Olympics in Tokyo Japan.

Ogallo will represent Kenya in the middle/heavyweight category in the games that will run from July 24th to August 2nd 2020.

Kenya Taekwondo Federation wishes to thank Kibabii University for two reasons, (1) Providing KTF with training ground during preparations and (2) Producing a champion. Kibabii University had a total of 8 athletes in the KTF team during the 12th all African Games. Three (3) of them were in the Olympic qualifiers team together with two (2) from the Kenya Defence Forces. The Kenya Taekwondo Federation gives gratitude to the Kenya Talent Academy for the support and international exposure accorded to this team. It gave KTF the best which has contributed to the success of our athletes. Not to forget contributions by the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK), their endless support in the international campaign by fully supporting teams from last year to date. KTF gives special appreciation to the Ministry of Sports and our able PS madam Amina Mohamed for positive contributions towards the success of KTF.

The federation will retain the top trained athletes ahead of 2024 Olympic qualifiers. They are Edwin Lemiso and Newton Maliro of KDF, Evelyn Aluoch, Innocent Wafula of Kibabii University and Sharon Wakoli of University of Nairobi. Kenya Taekwondo Federation is proud of all Kenyans and appreciates their prayers towards this success . My Team is committed to bringing glory to Kenya in the forthcoming Olympic Games.

I will lead the delegation and ensure that we bring glory home. I have paraded enough technical personnel, both scientists and professionals for the purpose of achieving victory in Tokyo. My Team will be led by Head Coach Linus Marangu, Eliakim Otieno, Edwin Muturi, Philip Khaemba and top management of the talent academy. We welcome anyone who can bring positive contributions.

Congratulations Kenya, congratulations KTF members, congratulations Executive members. God bless you all.

"Rt. Major Suleiman Sumba.
